2014 Symposium
The President’s Commission on Slavery and the University also hosted the symposium Universities Confronting the Legacy of Slavery on October 16th–17th, 2014, in Charlottesville, Virginia.
All events (excluding the keynote address) were livestreamed on our home page. The livestream was additionally broadcast at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center.

The terrain by the University Cemetery is uneven in some areas and, in the event of recent rainfall, may be muddy. It is recommended that you wear comfortable walking shoes.

Notes
Hourly parking is available in the Central Grounds Parking Garage. Harrison-Small Special Collections Library is also easily accessible on the Free Trolley Line (Stop: UVA Chapel).
Free parking for the Closing Reception to be held at the Fralin Art Museum on Friday, Oct. 17th from 4:30-6:30pm is available at the Culbreth Garage. Accessible parking is available by request. If you have accessibility or mobility needs, please call the Office for Diversity and Equity at 434-243-2079 to have a space reserved for you.
Registration is full. Please plan to arrive early in order to be guaranteed a seat in the auditorium.
